Since November this year (2004) the Subsea Viking has a new “crew member”, She is called Subi.
Subi is 12 years old and lives with her Mother and Grand Parents in a community called Tinkothia which lies near the city of Patna in the Muzafarpur region of north east India.
She does not attend school but is learning to read and write in literacy classes. Subi and her family live in a small brick and corrugated asbestos roofed house which is in very poor condition. The nearest water is over 1km away and all cooking is done on an open fire. Subi’s family like their friends and neighbours have a very small income and it is a struggle to maintain even a basic standard of living. Their one enjoyment is a communal television where Subi and her family can pay to watch their favourite programs.
Sponsorship will ensure that Subi’s most basic needs such as health, education and housing can be improved thus giving her a brighter future.
The Crew of the Subsea Viking are looking forward to a long and happy friendship with Subi and her family.
